About Chetna

Chetna Welfare Society is a non-profit non-governmental organization founded to address the needs of Divyang children (physically and mentally challenged), a section of society often neglected. Its aim is to provide physiotherapy, support from special educators and speech therapists, basic education, and improved personal hygiene. The organization is also actively committed to the welfare of street children and women’s empowerment. In pursuing these objectives, Chetna Welfare Society has emerged as a pioneer organization
in the city of Faridabad.

From the Desk of General Secretary (Dauji Singh)

I take great pleasure and privilege of presenting before you the Annual Report of Chetna Welfare Society (Regd.) for the year 2015-2016. The current issue of Annual Report of Chetna is focused on highlighting the activities of the Chetna during the year 2015-16.

Performance Par Excellence

Chetna in its continued efforts to render excellent services to Divyang children, Street Cnilcrer and women from weaker section of the society, it completed another year of Commendabie performance during the year 2015-2016. Chetna, a service oriented NGO, continuously stnved to make children and women from poor segment of the society as self-dependent as possible and bring them in the main stream of the society. Nevertheless this performance has been achieved with the dedicated efforts of the Management Committee, the staff and the above all the respected donors and associates who extended assistance in all respects.

Our Work

Following a lifecycle approach, Chetna Welfare Society works intensively through focused welfare projects in four major areas — child education, healthcare for families, skill training and livelihood for youth, and community engagement through women empowerment.

Achievements

Chetna School for Divyang Children

Divyang children (as on date the number of such children registered with Chetna is 158) received excellent support in terms of Physiotherapy, Special Educator, Speech Therapist besides basic education and awareness on hygiene, which has helped in shaping their lifestyle. These children also performed cultural activities in functions organised in the campus from time to time which gave them wide exposure in building self-confidence. These children also gave excellent performance in Gurgaon based multinational company – American Express. Skill development training being imparted to them in making Candles, File Covers, Decorative Diyas, Decorative Tokris and Shagun envelopes has helped in shaping their future and bringing them into the mainstream of society.

Satyabhava School for Street Children

Children registered with Chetna received excellent support in Physiotherapy, Special Educator, Speech Therapist, basic education and awareness on hygiene, which has helped in shaping their lifestyle. These children also performed cultural activities organised on campus from time to time, which gave them exposure and confidence. Skill development training in making Candles, File Covers, Decorative Diyas, Decorative Tokris and Shagun envelopes has helped them build their future and become part of the mainstream of society.

Pertinent to state here that these children are being provided absolutely free of cost the following facilities:

Special Children

PHYSIOTHERAPY CENTER

A reasonably well-equipped physiotherapy facility with the help of a qualified physiotherapist.

SPEECH THERAPIST

Special educators provided professional skill training while speech therapists helped children improve speech-related difficulties.

TRANSPORT FACILITY

The NGO provides Eco Van transportation for children between their residences and school, helping improve accessibility and convenience.
